Amplify is partnering with a large urban school district on a groundbreaking effort to transform Science education for hundreds of thousands of students. We're seeking a committed, confident, experienced leader for this project who excels in large-scale program management, deep relationship development, and coordinating the activities of interdisciplinary stakeholders - from curriculum developers to software engineers.
The Executive Director will:
Serve as key empowered leader for the partnership, representing Amplify and acting as POC for our partner. You'll set the tone and culture for this project, taking a consultative approach to ensure we meet the partner's objectives and standards within the constraints of time and budget
Ensure project success - 100% of deliverables arrive on-time, on-scope, on-budget, and meet Amplify's high quality standards. You'll position your team to track the details of deliverable progress across wide-ranging disciplinary areas, from training and coaching to software development. You'll enable visibility for Amplify colleagues and partners who will receive routine communications on project progress, key milestones, and emerging tradeoffs
Shape implementation of a groundbreaking initiative - identifying feasible, innovative solutions that meet partner's needs; ensuring thoughtful planning of change management; and positioning a nationally visible project for enduring impact on children's lives
To do all that well, we think the Executive Director needs to:
Manage projects with relentless accuracy
You build and institute sustainable systems that enable visibility into project progress and early escalation of risks with risk management plans.
You ensure project team tracks their time with sufficient detail to drive ongoing cost status updates (e.g., budget vs. actual) and timely payment.
You drive team momentum through focused leadership, kindness, gratitude, and respect - and inspire others to do the same
Bonus points if you've managed complex technical projects - maybe you've supported software development (in a PO or agile coach capacity) or implemented a large systems change in a company
Build authentic, trusted relationships
You intuitively develop deep client and colleague relationships that ensure project success
When challenges arise, you frame a collaborative context for making decisions and facing inevitable tradeoffs - and coach others to do the same
You bring a sense of fun, momentum, and focus to a high-pace, high-stakes project: your teams feel safe, challenged, and rewarded
Thrive on change
You are a skilled facilitator of complex, large-scale change projects
You move quickly and with bias to action: if email doesn't work, you pick up the phone; if phone doesn't work, you show up in person
You're always thinking one step ahead on what communications, tools, and supports will be needed to bring ever stakeholder along
Passionate about improving American education (and have prior experience in the space)
Whether as an educator, administrator, or entrepreneur, you've spent time in schools - you have an understanding and appreciation for the roles, responsibilities, and challenges faced by district and school leadership
Bonus points if you've majored in large urban school districts: perhaps you've worked as a Chief of Staff to a C-level leader in a top-10 district - or run a business or non-profit where you interacted directly with district leadership
Qualifications of the Executive Director:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
7+ years of experience with overall responsibility for large client-facing engagements.
Proven experience delivering large-scale projects within the scope defined by an agreement.
Experience developing positive client relationships.and communicating with senior-level clients
