Job Description
Research & Innovation (RIN) comprises the conduction of extensive fundamental scientific research on a field of expertise aiming at fuller, more complete knowledge and understanding of the fundamental aspects of a concept or a phenomenon. Covers encouragement of disruptive innovations and the provision of novel solutions while building up robust intellectual property for Nokia. The Research Scientist conducts research projects investigating fundamental scientific and conceptual problems with the goal of breaking new ground which could lead to new inventions, new or enhanced products, or new business or market opportunities by disruptive and innovative solutions. Creates a substantial competitive advantage by generating company intellectual property.
Job Responsibilities & Competencies
The primary duty for this position is to design and standardize current and future radio technologies. The candidate should be able to perform analysis and simulation of cellular radio systems to support the design and development of algorithms and radio technologies, research new technologies, publish key results, and file patent disclosures at the end of their internship period.
Qualifications
Student Criteria:
Overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 or above. Should be enrolled in a Masters and Ph.D. program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Must be enrolled as a full-time student.
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident preferred. Will accept students on F-1 Visa dependent upon program requirements or may consider sponsoring short-term J1 Visa PhD students dependent upon program requirements.
Education Requested: Must be pursuing a degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Business Modeling, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Microbiology, Nanotechnology, Operations Research, Physics, Statistics, Systems Engineering and Telecommunications from an accredited college/university.
