University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. University Health Lakewood Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our medical staff in providing psychiatric coverage of our 16-bed geriatric psychiatric acute care unit.

This position will work as leader of a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatry residents, medical students, psychologists, medical social workers, dieticians, nurses and recreation therapists. Other duties will include: helping to cover our inpatient mental health units during physician absences, consultation liaison services to medical center and teaching of psychiatry residents and medical students. Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged.

The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, completing a residency in psychiatry (experience in geriatric psychiatry preferred, but not required)
