Job Title: Electrical BIM/VDC Specialist

Reports to: Director of Design Services

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Exempt

Position Description. The Electrical Building Information (BIM) Modelling Specialist supports all partners within assigned projects, or assigned jobs, by creating BIM content for products or for large projects, throughout the lines of business at Baker Electric, Inc. - Des Moines, IA,

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Understand written instructions from designers and installation team to generate Electrical BIM models
  • Review early designs for constructability analysis
  • Create accurate 3D Revit models and relevant views for cross-function team
  • Use special notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings and blueprints
  • Monitor compliance with building codes
  • Work with electrical design team to create engineered drawings
  • Confer with cross functional team to resolve problems, including clash detection with other trades
  • Participate in weekly coordination meeting to provide status updates, issues, and documenting project updates
  • Travel to various project sites to resolve issues or develop a deeper understanding of the project and any issues at the point of installation
  • Assist Electrical BIM Technicians as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of work and any Baker Electric project knowledge
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to Project Managers or company leaders with recommendation for resolution
  • Other related duties as assigned

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)

  • Associate's degree in Architectural Technology, Computer Aided Drafting or similar related field
  • 3 years' Revit experience with demonstrable skills
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Architecture
  • Fundamental experience with Autodesk Navisworks Manage
  • Ability to create, read and translate building drawings into 3D model using Revit
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Software Proficiency

  • This position will utilize various software and add-ins. The required proficiencies are listed below on a scale of 1-10, with 10 representing expert level. Where a software is listed without a requirement, it is recognized that this software will be utilized within the scope or the position and additional recognition will be granted for notable skills with that software.

Physical Requirements (Ability)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work at a computer (reading and keying) for extended periods of time, to talk and hear, to move within the office, to retrieve files and to meet with employees in their offices or conference room, communicating verbally and in writing, one on one, in small groups, presenting work. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

The employee may be required to commute to field locations and project sites and be able to navigate around the job site locations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Work from home is not an option for this position.
