Job Title: Billing Manager

Reports to: CFO

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Exempt

Position Description. The Billing Manager role is a key position within Baker Electric, Inc., in Des Moines, IA. This position will partner with Project Managers and leadership to get jobs completed and billed within the ERP program, throughout the company, including all divisions, and will oversee all personnel in the billing functions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure the processing/transmission of the billing functions are supported and set-up within the ERP system.
  • Assist with contract preparation and review, as needed, to ensure a seamless flow for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Service Managers and Division Managers to accurately prepare, adjust and verify documentation is complete and accurate before invoicing.
  • Effectively prioritize a large volume of billing and adjustments to meet strict month-end close deadlines with minimal to no errors.
  • Monitor and oversees the billing information throughout the entire operation, i.e., payroll set-up, job cost assignments, etc., are established within the ERP system to accurately process billing according to the terms & contracts within each project.
  • Work with CFO, accounting and HR/Payroll teams, to maintain accurate details within the ERP system per standards and protocols, and troubleshoots issues as needed.
  • Partner with customers to process billing functions according to customer specification, including, but not limited to submitting via customer billing interface systems.
  • Work with billing personnel and other key partners to research and resolve sensitive issues to the billing process, both individual customer accounts or system-wide issues.
  • Prepare weekly or monthly reports of invoicing and reviews activities with CFO for analysis and to monitor for areas which need collections or assistance.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field of study, or equivalent years of experience
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience necessary
  • Extensive knowledge of billing and accounting procedures and practices, including journal entries, sub-ledgers, general ledger, closing and reconciliation
  • Project billing and/or Project Accounting experience preferred
  • Experience working in the construction industry is preferred

Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages
  • Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values
  • Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees and customers
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
