Job Title: Billing Specialist

Reports to: Billing Manager

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Position Description. The Billing Specialist role is a key position within Baker Electric, Inc., in Des Moines, IA. This position will partner with Project and Service Managers to get jobs completed and billed within the ERP program, throughout the company, including all divisions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create invoices and supporting documentation as required to be sent directly to the customers
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Service Managers and Division Managers to resolve any job or project discrepancy in order to complete the billing functions
  • Build and maintain rate templates by customer within the ERP system
  • Create Service Work Orders within the ERP system
  • Partner with Billing Manager and CFO to maintain Time & Material rate templates within the ERP system per standards and protocols
  • Partner with customers to process billing functions according to customer specification, including, but not limited to submitting via customer billing interface systems
  • Work with customers on any issues or information needed for their ability to submit payment for services
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs as established.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution.

  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)

  • Minimum 1-3 years related experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Familiarity and experience with bookkeeping and basic accounting skills

Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages
  • Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values
  • Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees and customers
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, effectively in the English language
