Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Licensed Qualified Mental Health Professional - Child/Adolescent to work at Truman Medical Centers (TMC), the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine. The position will be located at Lakewood Counseling, an outpatient behavioral health clinic serving outlying areas of Kansas City metro area, including the southeast suburbs, and housing both Adult and Child treatment teams. We see a diverse range of patients from varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Child & Adolescent team is a cohesive unit comprised of psychologists, qualified mental health providers (Masters-level social work, counseling), psychiatrists, and psychiatry residents. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a high level of clinical care, and to implement evidence-based practices whenever possible. Current modalities include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-based skills, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Love & Logic parenting techniques. Common presenting concerns treated include: Anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic symptoms, OCD, behavioral difficulties, ADHD, DMDD, ASD, Borderline personality traits, grief & loss issues, and adjustment disorders.

We are looking for a licensed clinical social worker or professional counselor who can complement our already existing skills, while also bringing their own areas of interest and specialization to contribute to the team learning environment. The ideal candidate is someone who feels confident in their skillset, while also being excited to continue learning and challenging themselves through consultation with those around them. Weekly consultation opportunities are available and strongly encouraged, including child therapy team, child therapy and psychiatry consultation, and psychology testing meetings. The psychologist will be responsible for managing all aspects of their clinical case load (intake evaluations, individual and family therapy, psychological testing, crisis management).

Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree or above in counseling, psychology, social work, family therapy or closely related field.
2. Missouri Licensed as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
3. Knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of psychiatric diagnosis.
4. Must demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practice of mental health assessment and treatment and have basic research skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
6. Must have organizational and leadership skills.
7. Must be able to demonstrate good independent judgment, adapt to new duties and work in a changing environment.
8. Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment.
9. If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.
