University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and many of our physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers/University Health in Kansas City, MO. known as "Kansas City's Essential Hospital," it is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO. We are looking for a physician leader with exceptional experience and excellence in the clinical, educational, and research missions of the department.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, through its leadership in Women's Health, holds a critical, high priority position within the organization. Its faculty provide comprehensive care in the field including care for a high risk, high acuity patient population, specialty care in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Cardio-Obstetrics, and Midwifery. They enjoy practice in a newly renovated inpatient unit, a new ambulatory facility, and a quaternary Fetal Health Center which connects University Health with its pediatric partner, Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City.
The Department has a strong educational mission, providing core education to UMKC medical students, leading a well-respected residency program, and a strong fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. It is developing a fellowship in Urogynecology and aspires to expand its academic programs.
The Chair will oversee the strategy and operations of the Department, while growing its research portfolio, including NIH funding, and enhancing the department's excellent reputation in education and advocacy. The leader requires skills in multi-institutional management and a compelling vision supporting community care and service to a diverse patient population. The faculty are particularly interested in a Chair with a passion for mentorship and personal development.
