Stanley Consultants currently has an opportunity for an Entry Level Structural Enginee for our Muscatine, IA office. This position supports professional engineers as they assist our clients by providing both technical expertise and project management on a diverse range of projects.

Our structural engineers work on a wide variety of projects including design and analysis of buildings and large non-building structures; from power generation structures, co-generation facilities, central heating and chilled water plants, campus type utility distribution systems, to industrial and commercial projects.

You will work with structural experts that collaborate across multi-discipline teams that provide innovative solutions to complex challenges. Our design calculations and modeling work is substantially computerized.

Essential duties include:

  • Prepare and check structural design calculations, computer models, and drawings.
  • Review fabrication shop drawings for structural materials.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers and architects to develop coordinated design solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Design structures and foundations based on design codes and standards published by International Building Code, ASCE, ACI and AISC.
  • Design steel structures, including framing for buildings, pipe supports, pipe racks, bridge cranes, equipment supports and access platforms. Design reinforced concrete, including concrete superstructures, slabs, walls and foundations for buildings and equipment (pumps, fans, chimneys, cooling towers, tanks, etc.); underground tunnel and vault systems; and retaining walls.
  • Limited travel, including visits to project sites for field coordination and to monitor construction progress.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited 4-year College or University with a major emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Satisfactory grades in engineering coursework such as structural steel and reinforced concrete design, and finite element, seismic, dynamic and structural analysis.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Possess EIT, or able to obtain EIT within 1 year.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in the United States for any length of time without requiring sponsorship.

Desirable:

  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis; OR must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering AND have at least 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience
  • Possess experience in construction observation, material testing, and field data collection.
  • Possess experience with CADD graphics and BIM software such as AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Possess experience using Mathcad, RISA, and STAADPro.
