What You Will Do:

As Gannett Fleming continues to grow and expand, we are seeking a talented Dam Project Engineer to join our Geotechnical, Dams and Hydraulics Team in the Mountain West/Pacific Northwest states of Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, or Idaho.

As a Dam Project Engineer, you will need to be a driven, motivated individual who will assist with technical aspects of the project and client management within the Geotechnical Dams and Hydraulics Practice of Gannett Fleming, focusing on clients and projects in the western US. Duties will include management, analysis, design and construction observation of a wide variety of dam and flood risk reduction projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze reinforced concrete hydraulic structures, such as spillways, outlet works, stilling basins, etc. for complex sites and/or
  • Design and analyze various types of dam embankments and flood control structures with regard to seepage, slope stability and dam safety issues.

Additionally, you will:

  • Independently apply advanced theories, concepts and principals of engineering to resolve critical issues and unique conditions.
  • Participate in the development of project design concepts and criteria and research large or complex project elements.
  • Have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating large or complex engineering assignments.
  • Act as technical specialist in the development of proposals.
  • Manage project team integrated with multiple disciplines of 10+ people.
  • May act in the capacity of Project Manager, Client Manager or Proposal Manager
  • Provide QA/QC reviews
  • May supervise a staff of engineers and other technical specialists.
  • Responsible for working closely with clients for client satisfaction as well as business development purposes.
  • Prepare engineering memorandums, reports, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide observation support during the construction phase of various projects.
  • Prepare engineering design cost proposals and assist with marketing and business development efforts as needed.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain licensure in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience in water resources, mining, or dam projects.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Field experience with construction observation activities such as excavation, form work, reinforcement and concrete placement and finishing is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and report/proposal writing skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Prior supervision of staff is preferred.
  • Project Management experience (PMP) and/or advanced technical certification (BCEE), preferred.
