Position Summary:
The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is a special project department housed under the Office of Research on the UCI Campus. The ICTS is funded by the NIH under the Clinical and Translational Sciences Award program, one of about 60 currently funded in the US. Our unique environment means that staff, faculty, and students work closely together in order to advance translational science across campus and the medical center. The ICTS functions as a local centerpiece for the national program, and we are dedicated to advancing scientific discovery and medical breakthroughs. Collectively, our goal is simple: to accelerate these discoveries from the lab and translate them into life-altering medical care. UCI Health Affairs - encompassing Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences (COHS) and UCI Health - is translating the tripartite mission of "Discover. Teach. Heal." to drive groundbreaking scientific discoveries, translate the latest research into clinical application, and training of a future-focused workforce in healthcare. The college comprises the School of Medicine, the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Program in Public Health (Future School of Population & Public Health), the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute, and research units focused on cancer, clinical translational science, precision health, and stem cells. In robust synergy with UCI Health, the only academic health system in Orange County, UCI is transforming education, discovery, and patient care to benefit the region, state, and nation.
The Project Policy Analyst serves the UCI Institute for Clinical and Translational Science and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs (OVCHA) in areas of project support, project management, and the development, implementation and assessment of a broad range of strategic initiatives including but not limited to pilot award programs, and research funding opportunities. Under minimal supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Translational Research, the incumbent collaborates closely with leadership to plan, implement, and assess strategic initiatives. The Special Projects Analyst provides comprehensive analyses, manages and finalizes projects, and develops reports as needed to communicate results appropriately to a range of high-level internal and external audiences. Demonstrates a full understanding of administrative practices and organization policies and procedures. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The incumbent must be able to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
