ABOUT THE JOB

This role is intended for recent 4-year college graduates who majored in an applicable field (Construction Managment, Civil Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, ETC). As Tepa continues to grow, we are focusing on hiring recent graduates to begin their careers at our organization with opportunities to receive hands-on learning, mentorship, and growth within the company. This is an entry level position that does not require previous experience but does require education in the particular discipline.

Tepa Companies is currently seeking a Staff Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO). The Site Safety and Health Office who will be responsible for assisting the primary SSHO in managing, communicating, implementing, and enforcing compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) EM 385-1-1, Tepa's Accident Prevention Plan and other accepted safety and health submittals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implements project safety processes as stipulated by the approved Health and Safety Plan, Accident Prevention Plan, and Activity Hazard Analyses.
  • Conducts daily, weekly and/or monthly safety briefings, as required.
  • Conducts daily and monthly site safety audits.
  • Fills out and obtains daily work permits such as but not limited to (confined space, hot work, safe work or dig permits)
  • Works with Project Manager to obtain safety certifications for subcontractor employees on various tasks such as: fall protection, confined space entry/attendant, trenching, equipment operations, asbestos and lead abatement.
  • Makes decisions to amend activity hazard analysis to reflect any field changes on project sites.
  • Implements reporting procedures in the event of an incident or accident.
  • Investigates and evaluates incidents/accidents to determine procedural changes necessary to preclude recurrence.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or similar field (or graduating in 2024)
  • 0-1 year of relevant work experience.
  • One (1) internship completed in relevant field.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and USACE EM 385-1-1 policies as they pertain to construction projects.
