Position Summary: Reporting to the Property AP Supervisor, the role of the Portfolio Accountant Intern (Internally known as Accounting Intern) is to provide support to the Accounting Department and Property Teams

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicates with Property Managers & Regional Managers, on questions and concerns related to job responsibilities assigned.
  • Review for Accuracy and Processing of Capital Approval Requests and associated documentation through the contract workflow process. This includes assisting with submission of CapEx vendors through the vendor queue; including verification of correct documentation.
  • Review CapEx invoices submitted by all parties, verifies accuracy, completeness, job coding, and percent complete. Researches and resolves invoice discrepancies prior to submitting to Staff Accountant for approval. Follows up on delayed or missing invoices. Support with processing invoices related to property renovations through accounting workflow.
  • Support in AP functions - Such as Processing Invoices through workflows, Payment and Check Processing, Vendor Statement Reviews, and other areas as assigned
  • Support in Accounting Functions - Such as Bank Reconciliations, Financial Statement Items, and other areas as assigned

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pursuing Further Accounting/Finance Education at accredited institution
  • Detail oriented with a focus on quality to maintain accuracy on reports, lists and pricing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, multi-task prioritization and organizational skills, and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of people and customers

Work Schedule: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, or as needed to meet business needs. Position is expected to begin mid-May with an expected end date of mid-August. Remote work and Flexible schedule as approved by supervisor.

This job generally operates in a professional office environment but may also occasionally operate in an outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, occasionally move about the office, constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, communicate regularly and effectively with others, both written and verbally, and may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

This position requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
