Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

Sr. Mechanical Designer:
* Assist in line-down down support to ensure continuous flow of product to meet customer demand.
* Responsible for fixture and tooling design, development, design for manufacturability, manufacturing cost estimates, drawing creation, prototyping, and production implementation.
* Supports design for manufacturing review and provides manufacturability guidance during part design.
* Improve and standardize departmental and organizational processes by working with cross-functional teams focusing on Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
* Designs and develops complex tools, fixtures, assemblies, templates, and other manufacturing aids to increase manufacturing yield and throughput.
* Analyze new and existing manufacturing processes to determine if manufacturing in-house or outsourcing is the most effective option.
* Supports CIVCO's preventative maintenance tooling program as needed.
* Supports evaluation of on-market tooling for conversion to steel. Assists in management of approved conversion projects from approval to release.


Project Management:
* Provides inter/intradepartmental communication and information relating to fixturing and tooling design and development for new products, on-market products, and business improvement projects.

Quality Assurance:
* Generates and updates quality system documentation (i.e. standard operating procedure, work instruction, etc.) and project related documentation as needed (i.e. qualification protocols, reports, design history file documents, work orders, charters, etc.).
* Understands and follows engineering related and overall company processes.
* Understand and executes manufacturing responsibilities within a regulated quality system such as ISO 13485.

Sourcing:
* Assist in the validation and technology transfer of CIVCO processes to quality, cost-effective, and reliable suppliers.
* Assist in the development of product and process requirements including raw materials, components, finished product, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing systems.

Other Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrates design, documentation, materials management, and design for manufacturing skills.
* Demonstrates troubleshooting skill, effective communication skills, and attention to detail.
* Prefer experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
* Prefer experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Product Data Management (PDM) tools PTC Creo Parametric and PTC Windchill.
* Experience with manufacturing processes; including injection molding, machining, and mechanical assembly.
* Regular, predictable attendance is required for the ability to complete all work.
* Requires face-to-face interaction with team members, peers, and management to complete work and provide support.
* Ability to work more than 40 hours per week (overtime) if needed based on business demand.
* Ability to demonstrate and promote CIVCO Values.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum of an Associate's degree; and five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in injection molding and steel tool design and development. Plastics Technology and Engineering certificate or related program from an accredited institute is preferred. Experience within GD&T, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, and MDR requirements preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
