Under minimal guidance performs, design and develops software applications and/or processes within established medical product design controls.

• The Principal Engineer, Software will improves software engineering process efficiency

• Resolves software defects

• Supports effort to create efficient software engineering practices

• Performs root cause and failure analysis activities

• May mentors and guides junior staff

• Works with internal and external staff to conduct design, redesign, prototype, and other software engineering activities

• Authors and reviews software specifications

• Maintains technical records and files

• Assists with project timing, tracking progress to program schedule

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 5 - 7 years of related experience

* Experience working in the Agile environment a plus.

* Demonstrated experience in implementing performant system software solutions using a variety of technologies (Linux, C++, Shell Scripting, and Python)

* Experience with software product development and working through all SDLC phases

* Demonstrated experience in using Object Oriented design patterns in multi-tiered and multi-layered architectures.

* Ability to work independently or collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team

• Background in a Test First Development preferred

* Strong problem solving and analytical skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
