What We Need:

We are looking for a Senior Product Development Engineering Manager to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings team.

The Product Development Engineering Manager strategically drives the technical direction for the product category. This role is responsible for defining product performance requirements and influences the organization to understand and make key business decisions to best balance cost, quality, aesthetics, and other product characteristics. The role mentors and supervises engineers on fundamentals of product engineering and provides broad technical leadership to the organization.

What You Will Do:

  • Define and meet product performance requirements, including certification requirements, quality, and customer satisfaction during and after product launch.
  • Understand and make appropriate tradeoffs in terms of cost, complexity, aesthetics, and investment.
  • Oversee internal and external engineering resources to hit targeted launch dates, and other major milestones.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to achieve project goals, for example, quality and profit targets.
  • Develop and manage the department budgeting, resource planning, and project level capital and expense budgets.
  • Stay current on material properties and selections, alternatives to existing HNI solutions.
  • Provide leadership with technical updates and act as the subject matter expert.
  • Maintain compliance standards and communicate changes into appropriate leadership. Supervise, coordinate, provide leadership and review work of assigned members. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend merit increases, promotions, transfers, corrective actions, and other personnel actions. Interview and recommend candidates for employment. Drive member engagement.
  • Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of management experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time.
