Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Manager, Revenue Cycle Operations-Inpatient.

In this role, the successful candidate as the Senior Manager of Revenue Cycle Operations is required to manage the daily operations of the Inpatient Non-Governmental A/R across the health system. This includes optimizing staff performance through process redesign, policy/procedure implementation, communications and outcome feedback; attending managerial meetings as a representative of the department; optimizing resources and ensuring consistent achievement of all financial and operational KPIs; providing orientation, training and continuing education for all staff; plus all related job duties as assigned. Health system responsibilities of the Senior Manager include, but are not limited to: (1) personnel management, (2) Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations management, (3) policies and procedures development and adherence across sites, (4) ensuring optimal customer relations, (5) maximizing accurate and timely billing and minimizing denials, and (6) special projects. Supports and demonstrates the philosophy/mission of NYU Langone Health System in the performance of duties and representation.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible and accountable for the management of Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations for multiple sites across the health system and works collaboratively with the Director of Revenue Cycle Operations to support department initiatives, perform applicable analysis, and manage key project initiatives.
. Ensures timely, accurate and effective billing and management of the unbilled accounts receivable.
. Oversees International Patient Services inventory timely, accurate and effective billing and account management.
. Oversees Hospice inventory timely, accurate and effective billing and account management.
. Oversees Research inventory timely, accurate and effective billing and account management.
. Work collaboratively with and acts as a liaison with a variety of internal departments within NYULMC (CCR, Billing, Government, etc...), external business partners, external departments, and NYULMCs contracted payers
. Manages the Managed Care Inpatient team within the Revenue Cycle Operations department, which includes follow-up with managed care insurance companies
. Performs data mining and in-depth accounts receivable analysis
. Oversees resubmissions of denials, underpayments, and overpayments, and ensures that department is maximizing reimbursement to efficiently lower A/R and speed up revenue cycle
. Utilizes previous experience in adjudication of bills, and accounts receivable functions. Resolves billing and collections issues.
. Ensures cash optimization and accounts receivable reduction activity is functioning to fullest capability
. Work independently, take initiative, and think critically
. Understands, develops, implements, and analyzes key performance measures. Identifies and highlights further opportunities for improvements through analysis of workflows and data.
. Seeks and implements operational best practice through collegial interaction with the wider team and departments served across the health system.
. Provides leadership through effective communication, guidance, feedback and delegation. Prepares and assigns reports for areas of responsibility.
. Develops/Updates policies and procedures for Inpatient Revenue Cycle Operations to ensure operational alignment across sites.
. Evaluates and escalates eligibility, authorization, billing, and claims processing inaccuracies to implement upstream solutions
. Develops and maintains productivity standards for areas of direct responsibility, and monitors adherence to those standards. Provides coaching and timely feedback to staff in areas of responsibility, and completes probationary and annual performance appraisals for staff.
. Responsible for the development of the operational talent pool by providing orientation, training and continuous education for all staff.
. Counsels employees when performance does not meet standard in an effort to improve the areas of deficiency before disciplinary action is required.
. Motivates and effectively manages the performance of the Supervisors, Assistant Managers or Managers, to ensure they understand performance measures and the needs of their teams to optimize performance. Provides support and opportunities to grow their managerial skill set.
. Interviews prospective employees and make recommendations as to their abilities and the needs of the department. Monitors staff attendance and punctuality on a regular basis. Maintains records of staff attendance of all mandatory training sessions.
. Produces training tools to address performance deficiencies and to explain processes changes.
. Attends departmental in-services and staff meetings; Ensures staff complies with in service and competencies.
. Finalizes deliverables and present findings to internal and external clients; responsible for completing special projects as assigned.
. Collects/analyzes payer data to determine denial, overpayment, and underpayment trends for further review
. Sets key performance indicator goals for RCO Teams. Monitors and reports on all accounts receivable key performance indicators to the Revenue Cycle Operations Director
. Adheres to compliance and departmental policies and procedures including compliance with 100% of HIPAA requirements, required trainings, and other Hospital mandated activities;
. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field and /or a minimum of 5-7 years of demonstrated, responsible experience in a Revenue Cycle department along with previous supervisory experience. Strong analytical, interpersonal and dynamic communication skills (verbal and written) and multi-site scope of services across the health system are required. Proven leadership skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration or related field; 5-7 years of demonstrated responsible experience in a managerial role of a Revenue Cycle Operations department. Action-oriented, with experience managing deadlines and strength across a broad range of technical skills. Epic experience. Extensive experience with managed care contracts and data analysis. Knowledge of project management tools, methods and best practice. Excellent written and oral communication skills applicable to a wide variety of audiences. Ability to exercise discretion, good independent
judgement, and independent thinking in selecting the optimal course of action. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, customer service, analytical and problem solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $112,805.70 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
