What We Need:

We are looking for a Senior Communications Specialist to join our corporate Member & Community Relations (Human Resources) team in Muscatine, Iowa.

The Sr. Communications Specialist plans, develops, and implements a variety of communications supporting strategic Member & Community Relations (MCR) and corporate initiatives including the creation of communication plans, writing communication pieces, contributing to graphic and visual design, partnering with internal and external multimedia production teams, scheduling and deploying communication pieces; and gathering feedback and success metrics to implement continualimprovements.

What You Will Do:

Lead strategic planning for MCR communications:

  • Build leadership-level relationships to develop an understanding of MCR and business strategy, programs, initiatives, and related communication needs.

    • Focus areas include communications regarding company culture and strategy; diversity, equity and inclusion; benefits and wellness programs; and other strategic MCR initiatives.

  • Lead and coordinate the communications planning process for key MCR programs, processes, and priorities (often involving multiple stakeholders across a variety of teams).

  • Develop communication project plans aligned with stakeholder needs, including project-specific plans, and annual plans for ongoing communication vehicles. (newsletters, regular member meetings, etc.)

Craft effective internal communications for members, business stakeholders, and MCR teams:

  • Use a variety of communication media (print, video, electronic, face-to-face, web, and others) to craft deliverables that meet audience needs.

  • Research, outline, and create content/layout for communication pieces.

  • Review and align communication drafts with senior leaders, managers, and other key stakeholders.

Deploy communications, gather feedback and success metrics, and implement continual improvements:

  • Coordinate deployment approach to ensure messages reach distributed audience groups.

  • Collaborate with third-party partners as needed to implement and distribute communications.

  • Develop ongoing feedback channels to measure effectiveness of communication campaigns. Analyze feedback and metrics to recommend and implement continual improvements to communication strategies.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design or related field

  • 7+ years experience in marketing or communications, including communication planning, drafting, and deployment, using both written and multimedia channels (including video).

  • 3+ years experience independently project managing communication plans; skilled at tracking multiple deliverables for a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • 3+ years experience partnering directly with leadership to develop and implement communications plans.

  • Solid history of taking on larger, increasingly complex communication programs; proven achievements of large-scale communications and change programs.

  • Experience consulting with others on potential communication approaches and identifying strengths and weaknesses of alternate options based on audience needs.

  • Experience working with senior leadership during times of organizational transformation and change.

  • Experience specializing in HR communications preferred.

  • Experience in a large organization preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the role of communications in Change Management.

  • Able to communicate technical/complex concepts in simplified terms.

  • Creative skills, including concept generation and visual representation of complex ideas.

  • Exceptional writing skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Eye for graphic design, with proficiency in layout (Adobe InDesign/Creative Cloud a strong plus).

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; proficient with Microsoft Excel.
