As the Safety Engineer Level II here's the work you'll do:
  • Developand implements safety programs, procedures and processes to eliminate or mitigate hazardous environmental working conditions.
  • Coordinateassigned phases of Health and Safety Programs in designated areas of Plant operations, and recommends safety procedures to provide a safe working environment that will promote Plant safety, employee wellbeing and productivity. Responsible for assessment and interpretation of Material Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals utilized in all explosive and industrial processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports and assures that appropriate supporting records are maintained. Must be capable of preparing and implementing detailed Process Safety Management Plans and Process Hazard Analysis and able to communicate principles to affected employees.
  • Studyaccident hazards and health risks (industrial safety, explosive safety, special hazards, medical aid, etc.) and mandates necessary preventive or corrective measures, procedures, mechanical guards and protective equipment and clothing. Conduct regularly scheduled inspections of explosive production buildings, industrial work areas, administrative buildings, subcontractor work sites, and AO work sites as well.
  • Provideleadership in promoting behavior based safety by providing technical guidance to engineering, supervision, managers, and hourly bargaining employees.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge in Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and other software programs as needed.
And these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in Occupational/Industrial Safety and Health.
  • Entry level, prefer experience with military ordnance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Successful completion of background screening process.
  • Valid driver's license is required.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $59,600- $89,400. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
