Overview

We are seeking a SUE Instrument Operator to join our SUE-Geospatial team in Austin, TX.

This position requires the candidate to work in a variety of outside conditions and be physically able to operate and maneuver truck equipment and the various tools utilized for underground utility exploration, designation, and survey location. Candidate must be able to follow company procedures and policy when performing both SUE and survey duties. Day to day operations may require that most of the day be spent performing SUE activities while the remainder of the day be spent performing survey activates. The ability to focus on the task at hand is an important aspect of this position in order to maintain work-flow. Position will require travel at times, primarily within the office Geographic Region Location.

Responsibilities
    Works alongside an experienced SUE Tech or SUE Crew Chief in the field performing both designating and test hole tasks
  • Safety and adhering to safety culture
  • Awareness of the outdoor environment
  • Interest in advanced technologies
  • Assists with flagging and marking of utilities
  • Begins training to designate basic utilities such as gas, conductive water, utility services, low complexity telecommunications
  • Assists on test hole tasks of all types
  • Drives the designating vehicle and vac truck when needed
  • Helps maintain vehicles & equipment along with securing equipment and guard against loss and theft
  • Records information for test holes
  • Dependable and Responsive
  • Immediate room for advancement and promotion
  • Assists in office as needed
Qualifications
  • Entry Level position - No experience needed
  • Survey experience a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver's license and clean MVR
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical with the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within 60 days
  • Ability to pass drug screen
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Physically able to operate pneumatic tools such as jack hammers and pogo tampers
  • Must enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • Able to walk for long periods of time over all types of terrain
  • Must be able to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time
  • Technically and mechanically inclined
  • Understands basic physics
  • Higher than average problem-solving abilities
  • Good visual-spatial abilities
  • Basic math skills
  • Good writing and reading comprehension skills

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
