About the job

The Innovation and Automation Services team is looking for a Technical Architect with SAS Viya platform expertise. In this role, you'll be responsible for a variety of critical tasks.   You will be designing, evaluating, and maintaining the SAS Viya platform SAS Managed best practices for our customers.

Your main focus will be on ensuring the reliability of our applications, architecting them to effectively recover from failures of any scale. This means building and moving the platform to a more resilient cloud framework. Cost optimization is also a key responsibility. You'll need to maximize the value from our cloud investments. This includes designing repeatable deployments, effective system monitoring, and quick troubleshooting practices. Additionally, performance efficiency is vital requiring you to  build scaling approaches to resources to meet changing demands, keeping in mind both technical requirements and budget limitations. Finally, you'll play a significant role in strengthening our security posture using Azure's security services.

This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams at SAS, providing expert guidance on SAS Viya capabilities in private cloud, and leading the integration of these solutions into managed application services within Cloud and Information Services (CIS).

As a Technical Architect, you will:

  • Be the SAS Viya architecture expert and CIS thought leader for bringing new R&D product changes and updates into SAS Viya managed application services.
  • Produce detailed solution architectures to be implemented in our supported hosting locations.
  • Work across multiple teams in Sales, R&D, and CIS to assess hosting architecture requirements.
  • Evaluate and maintain alignment of hosting capabilities with SAS Viya R&D roadmaps.
  • Communicate recommendations regarding cost optimization, security, reliability, operational excellence, and performance efficiency for bring new SAS Viya solutions into managed application services.
  • Participate in ongoing training to launch and ready new SAS Viya services for sale in private cloud with product management.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering or similar.
  • 8+ years of technical architecture experience.
  • Experience architecting for public cloud delivery. Azure preferred.
  • Experience with SAS Viya or microservices based applications.
  • Experience architecting for stateless and stateful services.
  • Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Produce and communicate design documentation (architecture diagrams, non-functional requirements, and detailed solution architecture)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Travel: as business requirements dictate.
