About Your Role:

Our library of hundreds of millions of articles helps our users, and helps us understand the evolving needs of a world recovering from the pandemic and dealing with day-to-day challenges. As a director of search and recommendations, you will work with this incredible dataset and find opportunities to meet our users' needs. You will lead data scientists and work with our product and engineering teams to build exciting new experiences that leverage the latest in machine learning and recommendation system technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of web experiences, user analytics, and content understanding, and needs hands-on experience in building scalable and impactful recommender systems.

About Your Contributions:

  • Lead and grow a high-performing data science team.

  • Provide hands-on expertise on how to build scalable and reliable recommendation systems for the web.

  • Provide strategic direction for the data science team on innovative personalization experiences that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

  • Advocate for resources and tools to advance data capabilities.

About You:

  • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in data science and machine learning with a strong focus in the area of web-based personalization and recommendation systems.

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of data scientists.

  • Extensive experience leveraging A/B testing to drive significant improvements in user experience and engagement.

  • Extensive experience in working and deploying Python-based recommender solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Able to develop a vision and communicate this to stakeholders for buy-in.

  • Excellent ability to communicate results and progress to non-technical and technical audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.

Pay Range

Salary: $133,000 - $190,000

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees.
