Description

Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator in the Center for Iron Disorders at UCLA, the Laboratory Assistant will perform standard molecular and cellular biology assays. In this role, you will also maintain records of experimental data and protocols and provide basic administrative support as needed. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn new techniques and train students.

Note this a 100%, full-time, limited role, which may convert to career.

Hourly Salary Range: $19.32 - $22.37

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience with Western blots, ELISA, flow cytometry, colorimetry assays, PCR, microscopy, and cell culture
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work cooperatively with other team members
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, including the centrifuge, incubator, microscope, etc.
  • The attention to detail and organizational aptitude to maintain an organized and clean lab space, and to maintain all records accurately and completely.
  • Aptitude and willingness to work with mouse models
  • Ability to use a personal computer and standard programs (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or Life Sciences
  • At least 1 year of prior laboratory experience
