Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

FTE: .9 (Full-time, 36 hours per week)
Shift: Monday-Friday 6:15am - 3:15pm with some night and weekend call

*$10,000 Sign-on Bonus*

Responsibilities
  • Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of postop surgical patients from infant through geriatrics.
  • Develops and maintains an individualized, professional plan of care reflective of changing needs/outcomes and modified by evaluating the patient's response to the plan of care during the post anesthesia care..
  • Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and the Post AnesthesiaCare Unit (PACU) patient's plan of care.
  • Documents nursing care consistent with documentation guidelines.
  • Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Uses radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with established Radiation Safety Standards.
  • Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
  • Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by following FOCUS values and AIDET.
  • Practice reflects knowledge of ASPAN Guidelines, AORN Guidelines, ASA Guidelines, HIPPA, CDC, DNV, OSHA, CMS and other regulatory agencies guiding health care.
  • Must successfully complete and pass unit required educational classes.
  • Adheres to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Regional Medical Center and Surgical Services policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Refer to BSN Employee Voluntary Agreement.

Experience:

Two years of critical care nursing experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) /Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Refer to Job Description Addendum. Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 18 months of hire date. Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
