Job Description

Alcon is looking to hire a Program Manager for our Digital Health team. The ideal candidate will work with our Global Head of Program Delivery & Digital Health platform and product organizations, to ensure the delivery of world-class digital health products.

Our Digital Health team is harnessing technology to build a leading portfolio of digital health solutions that will transform the eye care experience for medical professionals to patients and enable improved patient outcomes - from a predictive healthcare delivery platform harnessing ML and analytics to innovative medical device software.

As a Program Manager, you will run the program management process brining overall visibility into program delivery ensuring proper governance structures and timely and on-budget execution. You will own enterprise-wide program execution and focus on higher level facilitation across organizations maintaining execution best practices and resolving complex roadblocks. You will facilitate data driven decision making by tracking, measuring, and visualizing key metrics across the org, and by coordinating all activities from goal setting to launch. WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience

  • 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support product portfolio/project/program management and governance, ensuring resource planning, on-time and on-budget delivery of aligned with organizational initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and align resource and program plans across teams, coordinating sub-projects/tasks among internal and vendor resources.
  • Collaborate with other program managers to identify and address risks and opportunities across multiple projects. Create and ensure on-time execution of integrated program plans in collaboration with other program managers.
  • Proactively manage cross-functional dependencies, escalating and resolving issues to ensure seamless execution of in-flight (N) releases.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues that may arise during release and program lifecycle. Evaluate and document changes to project/program scope.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering and architecture to identify risks to upcoming (N+1) releases. Create and drive execution of risk mitigation plans.
  • Lead and manage multiple Agile software development projects simultaneously, from initiation to delivery.
  • Work closely with product owners, scrum masters, engineering teams, and cross-functional teams to develop the program plans, milestones, goals, required resources, budget, and timing for target initiatives.
  • Create project/program reporting (e.g., status updates, reviews) to enable data-driven executive decision making through metrics definition and collection in collaboration with Value Assurance.
  • Track project/program spending and provide forecasts in collaboration with finance partner.
  • Manage projects/program in compliance with end-to-end product lifecycle.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing Agile best practices and methodologies. Optimize processes and procedures.

Competency Profile:

  • Proficient in the governance framework and management skills for both projects and programs.
  • Ability to develop detailed stakeholder maps and think about impact on broader organization and potentially push back to changes.
  • Proficient in managing program level roadmap execution tracking, giving direction to cross-functional teams, helping prioritize team level activity to aid on-time delivery.
  • Broad working knowledge of enterprise-level functional domains and product and platform operating models.
  • Understands the relationship between the Digital Product Manager, Scrum Master, and rest of the team, with a strong sense of design thinking.
  • Strong skills in financial management and budgeting, senior stakeholder management, as well as procurement and contract negotiations across the projects and programs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate and optimize design based on the value to the user and the business, lead ideation sessions and workshops.
  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines
  • Experience working with distributed teams and stakeholders across different time zones.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete program implications.

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years as a Project/Program Manager leading Agile software development projects.
  • Experience managing large initiatives across cross-functional teams and geographies
  • Working knowledge of enterprise architecture, application lifecycle management, and software development methodology
  • Experience working in SaaS or a fast-paced environment
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification preferred.
