Internal Auditor, Lead

Key Role:

Lead operational, financial, program-specific, and compliance audits, review internal controls over financial reporting as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and assist with ad hoc projects. Evaluate and conduct assessments in relation to client contracts, firm policies and procedures, best practices, standards, government guidelines, laws, and regulations. Participate in and lead the planning, scoping, execution, and reporting of audits based on identified risks for various processes, programs, businesses, and functions under the direction of an Audit Senior Manager. Interact with various professionals throughout the firm, including business and technical leaders. Help facilitate positive and value-added change by examining business processes and recommending areas for improvement by identifying control gaps or best practices. Learn and understand complex business processes and identify risks for processes, regulatory compliance, organization, and policy. Work as a sole contributor and teammate concurrently to ensure work is completed according to schedule and meets high-quality standards. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in internal auditing or external auditing, including directing, planning, and evaluating overall and individually executed internal audit programs
  • 3+ years of experience with managing teams of direct reports engaged in internal audit functions
  • Experience as a career manager for staff members, including guiding the professional development of staff members and conducting performance assessments
  • Experience with SOX compliance, including the assessment of inherent risk, evaluation of control design, development and execution of audit tests, and the assessment of control deficiencies
  • Experience with auditing business processes and evaluating areas for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Experience with preparing and reviewing work papers and work products, including plans, process documentation, test plans, or audit reports
  • Experience with applying critical thinking and problem-solving in a project
  • Knowledge of professional auditing practices and standards, including US GAAP and IIA standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Big 4, national, or regional consulting firms or the government contracting industry
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement
  • Knowledge of data analytics and visualization methods
  • Ability to verbally present and discuss work products, issues, and ideas
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to demonstrate eagerness to embrace data, innovation, and technology as tools to support and advance the audit function, leverage the power of data analytics, and develop stronger technical expertise and skills
  • Ability to work in an environment that fosters trust, collaboration, and belonging while making it easy to attract, hire, and retain top talent
  • Possession of excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Possession of detail-oriented skills to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) certification preferred

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
